Coventry loan Clarke-Salter

Coventry City have completed the signing of defender Jake Clarke-Salter on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old, who made his debut for the Champions League holders in April 2016, will be making his sixth loan move away from Stamford Bridge.

Clarke-Salter has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Championship with Birmingham City, having previously had spells at Bristol Rovers, Sunderland and Vitesse.

The former England under-21 captain joins a Coventry side who started their 2021-22 EFL Championship campaign last Sunday with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Jake Clarke-Salter becomes the seventh signing by the Sky Blues this summer and could feature on Saturday against Barnsley at Oakwell.

Ben Sheaf (Arsenal), Martyn Waghorn (Coventry City), Simon Moore (Sheffield United), Viktor Gyokeres (Brighton & Hove Albion), Bright Enobakhare (East Bengal) and Danny Cashman (Brighton & Hove Albion) all signed in permanent deals earlier this summer, whilst Ian Maatsen joined on loan from Chelsea two weeks ago.

The new-look Coventry side are also back at home at the Ricoh Arena after spending the past two years ground-sharing at Birmingham City’s St Andrews.
