Nottingham Forest were victorious in the prestigious East Midlands derby as they came out 1-0 winners at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime.
Striker Lewis Grabban took advantage of a Derby County defensive howler to score the game’s only goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Sabri Lamouchi’s side were probably deserving of their victory as they took the game to their rivals from the start of the second half. Derby striker Jack Marriott had missed two opportunities from close range in the first half; still without a single league goal this campaign since his playoff semi-final heroics at Elland Road back in May.
The goal came against Derby right-back Jayden Bogle played an aimless loose pass across the face of his own penalty area to gift possession to Grabban, who subsequently fired a first time effort past Kelle Roos in the Rams goal.
Derby are now winless in their past eight visitors to the City Ground in all competitions, dating back to September 2012.
Victory moves Nottingham Forest within two points of EFL Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion, who play Hull City at the KC Stadium later today.
