Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick of headers as Brentford came from behind to win 3-1 at Barnsley on Sunday.
Cauley Woodrow had put the hosts ahead after only 59 seconds with a fine curling effort from 25 yards.
However, it was the Bees whose response in the rain that proved to be very impressive as they moved six points ahead of Barnsley who occupy the third and final relegation spot after nine games.
Watkins equalised on 35 minutes when he headed home from a Mathias Jensen.
The striker’s second came from a Sergi Canos straight after the break before he stooped to nod home midway through the second half to give the visitors an unstoppable lead.
Ollie Watkins now has seven goals in the Championship this season – scoring all but one of Brentford’s goals.
Barnsley are winless since their surprise season opening three points against Fulham which seems like a long time ago now.
Heading into Sunday’s game these two had been the division’s lowest scorers. However, a 0-0 was not on the cards as early as the opening goal in the first minute.
The game had a fast tempo and would have entertained a number of neutral fans watching on TV.
Victory for Brentford sees them climb to 14th. They are back in action this Wednesday when they host Bristol City, whilst Barnsley entertain Derby County the same evening.
