Match report: Fulham 1-1 WBA

West Bromwich Albion remain the only unbeaten side in the 2019-20 EFL Championship as they came from behind to secure a point at Fulham on Saturday lunchtime.

The hosts have been inconsistent under Scott Parker to start the new season following their relegation from the Premier League but won’t complain with a point against one of the favourites for promotion this season.

That tag has also been placed on Fulham by many as their manager tries to work out his best XI following a number of ins and outs for a second consecutive summer.

One of those arrivals, Anthony Knockaert, on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, opened the scoring with a chipped cross that deceived West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to find the back of the net four minutes after half time. It’s the sixth time in seven games that the Baggies have fallen behind this season

The French midfielder’s goal looked headed to seal all three points for the Cottagers until centre-back Semi Ajayi headed home Matheus Pereira’s 80th minute corner.

Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli appeared to be impeded by striker Charlie Austin which went unnoticed by the officials.

The draw is West Brom’s fourth of the season after seven games but keeps them in the playoff places before the 3pm kickoffs. Fulham remain two points behind.
