The defender glanced home Will Vaulks’ cross to earn the Millers their second victory of the season.
Three points moves Rotherham up to 15th position on six points, one place and one point above Millwall.
Rotherham came close to doubling their lead but for Jordan Archer making a good save to deny Michael Smith.
The visitors had a couple of good efforts of their own – Tom Elliott’s effort was well kept out by Marek Rodek, whilst the Rotherham goalkeeper also denied Jake Cooper’s header.
Each team are in action in the EFL Cup midweek as Rotherham travel to Everton and Millwall host Plymouth Argyle.
