Brentford continued their unbeaten start to the 2018-19 Championship season with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Griffin Park.
French striker Neal Maupay gave the Bees the lead on from the penalty spot on 20 minutes after Lewis Macleod was hauled down by Sam Hutchinson.
Dan Bentley denied Marco Matias one-on-one to keep the hosts ahead before Ollie Watkins doubled Brentford’s lead on the hour with a tap-in teed up by Maupay after he had rounded Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson.
The Owls have now taken only one point from their opening three games to start the new season following a transfer embargo over the summer.
Brentford were deserved winners of the game and the scoreline could have been greater as Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins were a constant threat to the Yorkshire side’s defence.
