Brentford have completed the signing of Julian Jeanvier from French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims for an undisclosed fee, the London club have announced.
The 26-year-old signs a four-year contract at Griffin Park with the option for a further year.
Jeanvier becomes the seventh signing by the Bees this summer, following the arrivals of Kolbeinn Finnsson (FC Groningen), Patrik Gunnarsson (Breidablik), Ezri Konsa (Charlton Athletic), Jonny Mitchell (Falkirk), Luka Racic (FC Copenhagen) and Saïd Benrahma (Nice).
The centre-back had spent the past two seasons in the second tier of French football with Reims, helping the club return to the top flight last season.
Julian Jeanvier’s only experience of top flight football has come in the form of six games with Nancy in 2012-13 and a loan spell in the Belgian Pro League with Mouscron-Péruwelz in 2014-15, making 17 appearances.
Brentford start their 2018-19 Championship campaign at home to Rotherham United on Saturday 4 August after finishing 9th last season.
