Derby County sign Brentford winger

Derby County have completed the signing of Florian Jozefzoon from Championship rivals Brentford for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed.

The 27-year-old is new manager Frank Lampard’s first permanent signing at Pride Park after bringing in Mason Mount and Harry Wilson on loan earlier this week.

Jozefzoon scored seven goals in 39 Championship games from out wide for the Bees last season.  The 27-year-old only joined Brentford from PSV Eindhoven in January 2017.

The former Dutch under-21 international came through the youth ranks of Ajax before making a handful of first team appearances and moving onto RKC Waalwijk.  A transfer to PSV Eindhoven in 2013 saw the winger back on the up but he never played more times in any of his four seasons at the Philips Stadium than the 16 he made in his first.

Florian Jozefzoon had been a regular for Brentford in his year-and-a-half at Griffin Park.  He is capable of playing on either wing, a position where Derby County sold Johnny Russell in January and then Andreas Weimann earlier this summer.
