Bristol City sign Weimann

Bristol City have completed the signing of Andreas Weimann from fellow Championship club Derby County for an undisclosed fee, the Southwest club have announced today.

The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Ashton Gate.

Weimann spent three seasons with the Rams, scoring nine goals in 88 games, predominately playing out wide and spending plenty of time down both wings.

The Austrian international also spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign out on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Andreas Weimann is a good counter-attack threat as he showed in several games last season, notably Derby County’s 3-0 win at Birmingham City in January.  He will give Lee Johnson an extra attacking threat to his Bristol City side.

The forward has 14 caps for the Austrian national team.  He originally came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa where he was a regular in the first team for his final three seasons, each in the Premier League, before moving down the Championship with Derby County.
