Championship side Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of youngster Jacob Davenport from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee, the Lancashire club have confirmed.
The 19-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Ewood Park.
Davenport never made a single appearance for the Citizens and spent the second half of last season on loan in the second tier with Burton Albion, his first experience as a professional footballer. The teenage defensive midfielder made 17 Championship appearances (15 starts) for the Brewers, scoring one goal.
He has a decent long-range shot on him but one weakness for his position is that he is not great in the aerial duels.
Jacob Davenport becomes the second player to be signed by Tony Mowbray’s side this summer, following the purchase of fellow central midfielder Joe Rothwell from Oxford United.
Blackburn Rovers start their 2018-19 Championship campaign away to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday 4 August following their promotion from League One last season.
