Curtis Davies has extended his contract with Championship side Derby County until 2020.
The 33-year-old joined the East Midlands club from Hull City last summer and proved to be one of the best centre-backs in the second tier over the course of the campaign, helping Gary Rowett’s side reach the playoffs.
Davies played all 46 of the Rams’ league matches last season plus both legs of their playoff semi-final defeat to Fulham.
The former Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion defender has bags of experience and good leadership skills at the back which will be important for Frank Lampard’s side if they are to have any ambition of promotion this season.
Curtis Davies began his career in the lower leagues at Luton Town before going on to make 172 Premier League appearances across spells with West Brom, Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Hull. He made three appearances for the England under-21s between 2006-07.
Derby County kick off the 2018-19 Championship season at the Madejski Stadium when they take on Reading on Friday 3 August.
