Aston Villa release Premier League top scorer

Aston Villa have released their all-time Premier League top scorer, Gabby Agbonlahor.

The 31-year-old had been with the West Midlands club since he was a teenager, coming through the youth academy.

Agbonlahor made his Villa debut as a 19-year-old under David O’Leary in March 2006. He went on to score 73 goals in 322 Premier League appearances before the club were relegated in 2016.

The forward earned three caps for the England national team between 2008-09, but had only made 19 appearances over the past two seasons combined in the Championship, scoring just twice.

Gabby Agbonlahor’s most productive season came in 2009-10 when he scored 13 goals in 36 Premier League appearances following back-to-back seasons scoring 11 goals. These were the only three seasons that the Birmingham-born forward would score double figures in the league.

Aston Villa currently have an abundance of attacking talent on their books, including Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan and Albert Adomah.
